One of our script which actually updates the managed node count everyday is not doing so. The error logs says cannot write to host file(which i have seen for the fisrt time) So i wanted to know is there a possibility of modulated permissions on the file due to Patch upgrade (after which we have started seeing this) or is it that the permissions should be changed if any. We get this problem from time to time like an alert . Any update greatly appreciated.

"The error logs says cannot write to host file"

I think that there are 2 possible causes for this.

1. Like you already stated the access permissions are net correct. One thing you can do to check this is trying to approach the file from the system that tries to update the file using the ID that the script uses.

2. There might be a size limit on the file. If the file gets too long no additions will be made to it. You might be able to check this by renaming the original file and creating a new smaller one to see if this gets updated correctly.

Hope any of this will help yo solve your problem. Good luck.
