How to use the Peer to Peer Knowledge Exchange site
The Peer to Peer Knowledge Exchange toolbar is located at the top of each page. The toolbar includes the following icons for navigation:
Click on this to go back to the Peer to Peer Knowledge Exchange home page. On the home page, you will find links to Finding a Helping Hand, View Existing Questions and Answers and login to Ask a Q uestion or Become a Helping Hand. The Disclaimer is also found ont he home page.
This page lists all the questions that you have asked and answers to those that have been answered by the specified Helping Hand.
Chose a Helping Hand to ask a question from. The Helping Hand may either be available to the whole community or just exclusively to the gorup where they belong.
The Helping Hands Area is where the volunteer Helping Hands can find the questions that have been asked of them. Login is required to access this section.
This is where a registered Tivoli Software Global Unser Group Community member can register to volunteer to become a Helping Hand. The member can chose to become a Helping Hand to the whole community or exclusively to the local TUC where he is a registered member. Existing Helping Hands can also modify their profiles by clicking on this link.

Helping Hands
Registered community members can volunteer to be "Helping Hands" for specific topics and be available to answer questions from other registered members. Helping Hands may be available to the community at large or exclusive to their particular Tivoli user group.

Suggestions and your role as a Helping Hand

  1. Keep your profile updated with the most current information. You can update your profile by clicking on the "Become a Helping Hand" link.
  2. Once you have created your profile, all you need to do is wait for a question to be asked of you.
  3. When a question has been asked you will receive an email from the website letting you know that a question is waiting your answer.
  4. Go to the URL listed in the email and click on Helping Hand's Area to answer the question.
  5. Try to be prompt in answering a question as the person who asked is eagerly waiting for an answer. In case the member did not provide sufficient information for you to answer the questions, a link is provided to "Ask further question".

Asking a Question
To ask a question, you must be logged on to the site and pick a Helping Hand for your topic from the list provided. Questions may be "public" or "private".

Suggestions/Process for asking a question

  • Make you questions brief and concise. The maximum length allowed for a questions is 250 characters (approx. 35 words).
  • Whenever possible, please allow for public distribution of the final question and answer so that all members can gain for the knowledge exchanged.
  • Once you submit the question, you will be able to view the question in the "My Q&A" area. A separate notification email will be sent to the Helping Hand regarding your question.
  • As soon as your questions has been answered by your chosen Helping Hand, you will receive anotification email. In case the Helping Hand needs further information, you will be notified of this by email.
  • The final answer to all your public questions will be posted a part of the list of "Public and Completed Q&A" on the site.
  • Lastly, when your question has been completely answered, please go to "My Q&A" and rate the Helping Hand's answer so that all can benefit from the exchange.
  • There is no limit on the number of questions that a member can ask.

Public and Private Questions
Chosing to have your question public makes it available to the rest of the community. Public questions and answers will be included on the list and accessible by all registered members after loggin on to the site.

Private questions are communicated directly between the member and the Helping Hand and are not included in the list that is accessible to the community.

Feedback
Feedback on answers to questions can only be given by members who have asked that particular question.
