One of our Premier user groups, that I'd like to highlight is the Central Ohio Tivoli Users Group. This user group's leadership team is enthusiastic, always willing to help, gives feedback on topics and meetings and is consistent with having meetings both face to face and virtually.

In the words of Celeste Grone, a leader from the Central Ohio Tivoli Users Group this is what she has to say about her user group:

The Central Ohio Tivoli Users Group was started in Spring of 2002. The membership in 2005 was about 50 members. Today the membership is almost 200 and growing. We have a steady number of members who attend meetings regularly. Many of the members who attend are in other regions, but the Central Ohio Tivoli User Group is very active and has great meetings, so some members may drive a hour or two just to attend.

We hold at least four meetings a year that have a presentation or learning format. We also hold at least one certification testing meeting that focuses on passing a Tivoli Certification test. In addition, I have added virtual meetings this year, which have been a success, also.

In order to hold the interest of the members, I found that customer (member) presentations and involving the members in topic decisions and presentations is the best way to achieve this goal. Being able to bounce questions off of other members creates a sense of a team, instead of just a meeting group.

The Central Ohio Tivoli User Group is a great success because 1.) The members are involved in the group--there is a great amount of expertise to share among us and this involvement helps to build a vested interest, 2.) We have regular meetings (at least quarterly), we vary the topics and presenters, and the group decides together what they want to learn about, 3.) The leadership is transparent and available for the members as a central point of contact for questions and suggestions, and 4.) We are not afraid to change what, where, when, or how the group meets--the meeting variety adds member interest and attendance.

The Central Ohio Tivoli Users Group is a great group of people. I look forward to seeing the "regular" members at each meeting and sharing stories on what's going on in their environments as well as involving new members. I continually get positive feedback about our group.

Thank you Celeste and team for sharing your thoughts around your user group and the great success. To learn more about the Premier User Group program and its offerings please click here.
