ITM 6: Process-level reports

To maximize server utilization it is important to understand what processes are driving CPU and memory usage. However, the sheer volume of data that needs to be collected for process-level reports is overwhelming even for well-built ITM environments. With some servers having thousands of running processes, the task of computing aggregate usage by user or process name as opposed to PID presents another challenge. To address these limitations, Axibase has developed a Warehouse Collection Agent (WCA) which reduces disk space requirements by up to two orders of magnitude and makes process-level reporting affordable for all ITM customers. For more information about WCA please visit us at http://www.axibase.com/tivoli/itm6.2.htm.

Stay Connected! User Groups can now enjoy the freedom of online meetings!

The TUC community now offers User Group leaders the ability to conduct meetings over a secure web and phone conferencing network. This capability allows leaders to stay engaged with their members between scheduled meetings for a fraction of the cost and time it takes to organize a face to face event. Any member can attend a Virtual User Group meeting; all you need is a phone and computer and be registered as a member of the user group hosting the event and registered for their Virtual meeting. If there are no local User Groups in your area, or your interest is in a product area not often covered by your local group, then attending a Virtual User Group meeting may be a great option for you.

Take 5 minutes to fill out the TUG Member Survey on "Social Media"

"Managing Our Stuff with Our Stuff"
Over time, both customers in general and GTUG members in particular have demanded that IBM develop and include self management capabilities for their products. This is also referred to as MOSWOS (Manage Our Stuff With Our Stuff). One of the latest self monitoring capabilities that is critical to the availability and operation of ITM 6 environment is Tivoli Data Warehouse management availability and resilience. This link refers to a PowerPoint Presentation that walks you through the MOSWOS capabilities for TDW and has reference to self-monitoring capabilities for other IBM and Tivoli products.

Hints and Tips
During the annual face-to-face meeting, GTUG members had posed a question to IBM as to how real-time SLA violation can be compared to a baseline for the same hour of the week compared to previous weeks and associate $ figure to show the financial impact how real-time SLA violation can be compared to a baseline for the same hour of the week compared to previous weeks and associate $ figure to show the financial impact. In August, IBM presented a short powerpoint presentation to demonstrate how this reporting can be achieved for a particular service and children under that service. Products used for this scenario were ITM, ITCAM for Transaction, Omnibus and TBSM. You can access the presentation through this link.
