In this month issue of "In our own words" we'd like to share with you some directional information for the Omnibus product and also some pricing announcements.

IBM Tivoli Netcool Omnibus is IBM's event management platform going forward. IT was acquired as part of Netcool acquisition and is positioned to replace Tivoli Enterprise Consol (TEC) due to enhanced event processing capabilities and scale. To address growth and future requirements for large scale companies, IBM has introduced a multi-tier architecture for the Omnibus environment that would allow separation of functionalities performed by a single object server across multiple servers. With the new multi-tier architecture, event collection, event aggregation/processing and event display functions can have their own servers. For more detail on the Omnibus single and multi-tier architecture, refer to issue 14 of the Tivoli Advisor.

In an effort to simplify licensing, IBM has introduced a software bundling that allows for grouping of various ITM agents in a liked functionality package. Please click to see ITCAM Bundles 091708.ppt slide.
As you look at the bundling in the slide, it is not simple and I will guarantee you will have questions. There will be implications for cost, maintenance renewal of existing licenses and new license acquisitions going forward. I recommend you schedule a meeting with your IBM account representative for more detail explanation of the bundles.

White Paper - IBM Software: A green strategy for your entire organization: With today's market realities-rising energy costs, shrinking power and space capacity, increased regulatory scrutiny, and higher customer expectations-going green is not only socially responsible, it's an economic imperative. Traditional green IT strategies have focused on the data center alone, which accounts for only 2% of global CO2 emissions. For IT to impact the other 98% requires a new paradigm-one in which software is the key to realizing energy efficiencies throughout the organization-dramatically reducing environmental impact and energy costs. This white paper explores optimization strategies around the key areas of people, workloads and infrastructure, including entry points, relevant solutions, and demonstrated benefits being achieved today with IBM Software solutions. Utilization of these capabilities can help you meet the increasing challenges of energy efficiency, cost containment and compliance.
