UPDATES ON GLOBAL TIVOLI USER GROUP (GTUG) COUNCIL REQUIREMENTS
    1. Tivoli Education has been a driving requirement for the GTUG council for the past few years. The council continues to see Education as a high priority. We have been working with the Tivoli Education department to make sure that they are offering to meet the market's needs in a timely manner. Recently, we have seen some great strives forward. And so, in response to current customer wishes, IBM is now offering a 2-day classroom course on the ITM 6.1 Universal Agent, including application development for a wide variety of data providers and useful troubleshooting techniques. Search for the course TM85. Remember to check out the FREE Education available to you.

    2. Increased frequency and quality of communications on product enhancement requests is another GTUG requirement. With its strong push from the European community, Guide Share Europe (GSE) has stepped up to help all EMEA Tivoli User Groups. GSE offers the leader's of the TUGs the ability to actually input TUG member's product enhancement requirements into the GSE requirements system. This is directly linked to the IBM requirements tool. This unique offering is available free of charge and offers TUG members a fast and efficient route to product managers, and equally important allows members to receive direct responses and updates from the IBM Tivoli Product teams.

  • In Our Own Words – GTUG council
  • In this edition of the “In Our Own Words” I want to share with you some great news on the roadmap for Tivoli’s Business Service Management (BSM) and also share with you some information about a new company that Tivoli just acquired.

    Business Service Management (BSM) Roadmap
As you all know, IBM is in the process of finalizing the product convergence roadmap for IBM and Micromuse products. One of the key areas is Business Service Management (BSM). In this category IBM will be combining Tivoli Business Systems Manager 3.1 with Netcool Real-time Active Dashboards (RAD) 3.0 in a new release called Tivoli Business Service Manager 4.1. The new converged product is entering a beta beginning November of 2006. All the BSM products are being fortified and aligned to provide better products. For more information on the convergence roadmap, refer to the following slides.

    Tivoli Acquires DORANA product line
(Wednesday, October 4) IBM announced that it has acquired the DORANA product line and associated assets of Ubiquity Pty Limited. Ubiquity is a privately held company based in Melbourne, Australia.

The technology represented by the DORANA product line will enhance Tivoli Software's IT Service Management (ITSM) software portfolio and accelerate the delivery of asset management capabilities for System z.

As an example of DORANA's capabilities, if a brokerage group is ramping up its use of software resources, the company can spot this well ahead of time, plan for it, and determine when they will approach a contract threshold that will require them to pay for more software. Also, by gathering software inventory and use activity information, a company that just merged with another can discover software that is redundant, link it to associated contract details, and use that information for future buying decisions.

You can find more information about the Dorana products at this URL: http://www.ubiquity.com.au/product s_Dorana.php
