Staying Connected through the Tivoli User Community

Author: David Murray, President of the Carolinas TUG and member of the Global Tivoli User Group council

I just wanted to take a few minutes to let you know about a few things are happening in the near future and what the GTUG council is doing.

The first item is that I hope we all have an opportunity to attend a Pulse Comes to You activity in your area
This year Pulse comes to You is focusing on integrated service management.Integrated Service Management enables organizations to deliver innovative services by providing Visibility. Control. and Automation.™ across their business.  It provides the software, best practices and expertise to manage infrastructure, people and processes in the data center, across design and delivery, and tailored for specific industry requirements.

At PCTY 2010, IBM Executives and Industry Leaders will share how Integrated Service Management can help IT, Line of Business, and C-level audiences deliver quality services, manage risk and compliance, optimize business investments and accelerate business growth.

Visit the Pulse Comes to You (PCTY) 2010 Web site for dates already scheduled. More will be announced as commitments are finalized.

The second item is the growth of the GTUG sub councils.
We have several sub councils within the GTUG.  They include an Automation sub council, Security sub council, Storage sub council, and a Maximo sub council.  Our Automation sub council has always been strong and was the initial sub council of the GTUG.  In the last year we have been working diligently to improve and increase our participation of the other three sub councils.  I am very happy to inform you that we are having success and our other sub councils are growing.  We are very happy to have these new members and welcome them to the family. If you are interested in representing your user group by joining or finding out more information either the Security, Storage or Maximo sub councils please contact us at gtugcouncil@tivoli-ug.org

The third item is a quick note on our requirements process.
We are currently working on revising this process and will have more information in the next few months to let you know of our progress and what the new process entails.  Our goal is to make the new requirements process work better both as users and within IBM.

ANNOUNCEMENT: In December 2009 this user community updated it's profiling capacity which allows for user group members to better collaborate and network. Therefore on the website you will see these category names: 1) Data Center Management Tools 2) z/OS Management 3) Network, Service Assurance and Event Management
