Today IBM, announced its intent to acquire BigFix, Inc., a privately-held company headquartered in Emeryville, California. BigFix, Inc. is a provider of endpoint security and management solutions. Its offerings automate a broad range of tasks, including device configuration, software distribution, asset management, vulnerability remediation, compliance assessment, and security management.
 
As our client you must effectively manage assets, security, access and risk across today's smarter, yet more complex infrastructures. Our acquisition of BigFix,  will enhance our Integrated Service Management portfolio to help our clients, improve the management of both IT and operational assets. As a result, you can improve service delivery and overall business performance, while helping save time, labor and expense.
 
More specifically, BigFix's visibility, control and scalability provide a flexible platform to secure and manage laptops, desktops and servers, which will broaden the IBM portfolio in these focus areas:

Pending required regulatory approval and subject to customary closing conditions, BigFix, Inc. will become part of the Tivoli business under Al Zollar, General Manager, Tivoli software.
