GTUG Overview
The Global Tivoli User Group (GTUG) Council is comprised of leaders appointed from numerous Tivoli User Groups to represent their groups. Currently, the council is representative of 23 user groups (3 Asia Pacific, 12 Americas, 8 Europe/Middle East/Africa). Our focus has expanded to include members from Maximo, Storage and Security. The council meets on a monthly conference call to work through requirements and provide feedback to Tivoli. In addition, we meet face to face one time a year in a three day meeting to network and provide extensive feedback into Tivoli on various aspects.
What is our mission?
The mission is to extend the effectiveness of Tivoli user groups by providing operational feedback for the improvement of Tivoli's products and services by working proactively with Tivoli on planning, strategy and development prioritization, as well as expanding Tivoli user group networking capabilities globally.
What is our scope?
- Condense local user groups' feedback into the underlying fundamental issue(s) regarding Tivoli products or non-Tivoli products that Tivoli integrates with, product certification, support, documentation, training, professional services, sales and marketing. This information will be pro-actively used to influence Tivoli to improve their products and services, through the Tivoli Board of Advisors and/or other avenues that may be available.
- Act as a pre-funding/pre-development/pre-deployment operational sounding board for plans Tivoli has for products, services, sales, etc., and provide input into Tivoli's overall strategy.
- Extend the networking capabilities of the local users groups to share information and provide a common communication point from Tivoli to its customers.

This CD contains recordings of the presentations given by IBM Services personnel at the annual Global Tivoli User Group (GTUG) council face to face meeting in May 2008. Instead of tool focused presentations, again this year IBM was asked to present their strategy from an overall service management perspective focusing on ITIL process automation. IBM presented their strategy to accomplish a service management vision focusing on integration of the IBM product portfolio. The first 6 presentations introduce you to a fictional company and guide you through 4 use cases describing the steps required to move this company from a current focus on operational management of IT resources to an environment focused on Service Management - delivering IT services to the company in an efficient and effective manner using Tivoli products as a technical foundation and ITIL as the process framework. The remaining presentations cover topics selected by the GTUG Council including: Migration Planning and Considerations, Management Availability and Resilience, Green Computing, Integration Initiative and Acquisitions/Strategy.All Tivoli User Group members can order these free CDs through their TUG Leaders.
