Author: David Murray, President of the Carolinas TUG and member of the Global Tivoli User Group council

To all

It is that time again for our In Your own Words installment.

While thinking about this there were several things that came to mind and I would like to talk about a couple of them.

The first item is virtual user groups. We now have the capability of virtual user groups for most product areas and in all geographies. I have been involved in virtual user groups with the Global Tivoli User Group council for many years. We have 11 virtual meetings per year and usually one face to face meeting. Some years the meetings are always virtual and we don't have a face to face meeting. I have found these virtual groups to function very well and they get better and better all the time. I would highly recommend checking one out for whatever area you are interested in.

The second item is the Global User Group website. One of the things that allow virtual user groups to work is the Global User Group website. While that technology and presence is very valuable for the virtual and in person user groups that is not the only purpose of the website. The Global User Group website has just undergone a major improvement with the addition of a member recognition points program. There is a wealth of information on the website about the different areas of interest; there are now networking opportunities, as well as the abilities to get involved in listening to the expert functions that happen from time to time.

I would like to elaborate more and probably will in a future In Your Own Words segment but for now I have run out of space. Please visit the new website www.tivoli-ug.org and check it out as well as the virtual user groups.
